Penry is buried at Holy
Trinity church, Pontnewydd, Cwmbran in grave no. D 182. He was aged 89 when he
died.
Penry was born illegitimately
at the Union Workhouse in Pontypool.
As his mother married William
Sheppard a few months later, it is assumed that he is the father of Penry.

Frances died at the Royal Gwent Hospital on
the 20th December 1926. Her address at the time is given 44, Wesley Street,
Cwmbran.
She died from (a) Toxaemia of Pregnancy and
(b) Cardiac failure.
Notes for WILLIAM GILLARD:
William was aged 83 at the time of his death.
His address was 62, Wharf Road, Newport. He died at the Royal Gwent Hospital. At
the time of the death of his first wife Frances, he was working as a coal miner.
He later went to work at a Aluminum works.
Between 1895 and 1900 William served with the
South Wales Borderers in South Africa. It is said in the family that he was a
drummer boy and is age at the time being 16 may go some way to prove this.
He died from (a) Myocardial degeneration, )b)
Chronic Bronchitis and (c) Chronic Cholecystitis.
His death was registered by his son Jack.
Williams ashes are buried in the Garden of
Rememberance at the Gwent Crematorium in Croesyceiliog, Monmouthshire. The plot
number is 12.

Penry was a Private 12980 in the1st. Bn.,
Grenadier Guards. He had received serious leg injuries in France and
subsequently died from his injuries in Hammersmith Hospital on Wednesday, March
31, 1915. He was aged 26. He was buried with full military honours at Llantarnam
(St. Michael) graveyard, Cwmbran.
